MCCC Launches Entrepreneurship Competitions in
Conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week
Keynote speaker is Venture Capitalist/Entrepreneur Wayne Kimmel

October 31, 2017, Blue Bell/Pottstown, Pa.—In celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Montgomery County Community College is hosting a kickoff event for the Karen A. Stout Start-Up Accelerator Fund and the Montgomery County Entrepreneur of the Year competitions.
The kickoff will be held on Monday, November 13, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Parkhouse Hall Atrium, Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, with a live stream to South Hall 221 at West Campus, 101 College Drive, Pottstown.  Registration is free, and the event is open to the community.
In addition to competition announcements, keynote speaker Wayne Kimmel, a venture capitalist and entrepreneur, will be sharing insights from his new book, Six Degrees of Wayne Kimmel. Wayne is the managing partner of Seventy-Six Capital, which has successfully invested in over forty technology and healthcare companies, including Grub Hub and Nutrisystem. He also will be signing copies of his book.
During the event, aspiring entrepreneurs will learn about the College’s Accelerator Fund competition, including the criteria, categories and deadlines. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to become involved with the College’s six-week Entrepreneurship Academy, co-sponsored by Drexel University’s Close School of Entrepreneurship.
The College also will announce the criteria and deadlines for its inaugural Montgomery County Entrepreneur of the Year Award for any entrepreneur who has had a positive impact on Montgomery County.
Now in its third year, the Accelerator Fund provides fledging businesses with much-needed capital to help take them to the next level in their business development. The Montgomery County Community College Foundation and the College’s Division of Business and Entrepreneurial Initiatives oversee the Accelerator Fund. Entrepreneurs who previously received funding from the Accelerator Fund will be at the event to share their experiences.
