Transportation Information
Residents of the Upper Perkiomen Valley depend primarily on private vehicles for transportation with the exception of the public school bus system,
although private taxis and a senior citizen van service are available. An easily accessible highway system and nearby rail transportation compensate
for the absence of public transportation in the immediate area.
The region is at a crossroads of interstate and Pennsylvania-maintained superhighways that conveniently access the Mid-Atlantic, New England, Midwest
and South. The Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 476), less than ten minutes away, offers quick and easy access south to
Philadelphia and the East-West Turnpike, and north to the Poconos and Route 81 to upstate New York. With Interstate 78 to New York only 20 minutes away,
the 112-mile trip to New York City is only a two-hour drive. If you prefer not to drive, Bieber Bus Company and Trans-Bridge Lines have daily schedules
to and from the New York City Port Authority.
In addition to the rural road system of the nineteenth century, the Perkiomen Railroad provided transportation for residents and manufacturers beginning
in 1875. Passenger service was discontinued in 1955, but the railroad maintains regular freight service to the industrial park in Upper Hanover Township.

peak business hours. From 30th Street Station, Amtrak provides nationwide service. The doorway to the rest of the world is less than an hour or two away.
Uncomplicated access to primary travel routes link the Upper Perkiomen Valley to more than seven major airports within two hours driving distance.
Philadelphia International Airport, Lehigh Valley International Airport and Reading Airport can be reached within an hour.
Just an hour's drive to Philadelphia and two hours to New York City, the state capitol Harrisburg, Hershey's Chocolate World, the Pocono Mountains,
Lancaster Amish Country, Baltimore, Atlantic City and New Jersey Shore points, the Upper Perkiomen Valley has the amenities of major metropolitan and
resort areas while remaining safely nestled in the quiet country.
