Recreation and Leisure

park Located in the northwestern corner of Montgomery County, neatly tucked between the urban sprawl of the Greater Philadelphia Area and the widening industrial development of the Lehigh Valley, the Upper Perkiomen Valley remains a "green belt" for living and recreating. Blessed with an established tradition of valuing open lands and with the generous funding provided by Montgomery County, the area is blessed with natural, serene beauty for both active and passive recreational choices.

The Green Lane Park affords easy access to special trails for hiking and horseback riding, boating and fishing areas and shady sites for picnicking and camping. During the winter months, the park also provides areas for sledding, ice skating and cross-country skiing. For those interested in tennis, there are lighted, all-weather tennis courts. The Boy Scout Camp, Camp Delmont, located in Marlborough Township, comprises 730 acres. Further, numerous municipal parks are accessible from every part of our community.

Local schools, both public and private, are generous in making their fields, tennis courts, gyms, pools and other facilities available. During spring and summer months, Bitting-Kistler YMCA Park, in East Greenville, is full of activity at the community pool, five little league baseball fields, and basketball and tennis courts. Programs for young children begin early, with PeeWee Soccer, T-Ball, and are strongly supported through volunteer organizations including Little League, Valley Soccer, Upper Perk Swim Team (summer and winter), American Legion and the Upper Perkiomen YMCA.

golfFrom early spring to late fall, cyclists, runners, and golfers will find a confluence of challenging terrain and beguiling beauty. The nearby Pocono Mountains, with peaks at average elevations of 1700 to 1900 feet, are a virtual paradise for outdoor winter sports enthusiasts seeking snowmobiling, skating, tobogganing, ice-fishing, snowboarding, downhill and cross-country skiing.

While the greater Upper Perkiomen Valley is home to many attractions, activities and opportunities, our central location serves us well because the surrounding area is rich with popular places for family fun including amusement parks, professional and spectator sports, world-class cycling events, museums, learning centers and other adventures.

Whether you choose to recreate or just contemplate, the Upper Perkiomen Valley and surrounding areas have much to offer.
